Bloom is having triple coupons this weekend and I made my first trip there yesterday. Let me first say that I encountered the most friendly people there! I've never been to Bloom, so I had to get the Breeze card and get directions on how to get and use the scanner, what to do with all the coupons when I was finished, and so on. The lady at customer service could not have been better. She walked me through every step! In addition, as I was shopping, there were store personnel everywhere and they greeted me, asked if I needed anything and even commented on my coupons and said they hoped I saved lots today. What a fantastic trip and refreshing to see people happy at their job.
On to the shopping. Like I said, never been to Bloom, so I had NO idea on the layout of the store. Not that difficult, as most are set up pretty close. But right there on my shopping cart was a map of the layout of the store in case I couldn't find something. Also, this is my first time trying to use Triple Coupons. I went in with a list of the exact items that I wanted to get, the price they should be, the coupon amount and bottom line total. I went in with the mindset that "I will not buy anything that isn't on my list" - and guess what? I didn't! It took me a bit longer than I would have liked - about 45 minutes - but now that I know the store, it will be easy to do again today. I even got some things I usually would not because they were FREE after coupons. I'll donate those items or maybe try out some new stuff!
When it was all said and done, I spent $5.78 on $101.23 in groceries! Not too shabby I would say. I was very pumped when I came out of there and couldn't believe that it really worked that well. I'm going back today, but since I've only been collecting coupons for about a month, I don't have as many good coupons as I would like. I'm still going to make use of all I can!
I've posted a list here of possible matchups for this weekend. Hope this helps you out!
All in all, it couldn't have been a more perfect experience and I'm so glad I got the chance to shop at Bloom! Every store should have those hand scanners - boy, I loved that!
Hope you all have a great Saturday and here is your quote for today.
Lack of money is the root of all evil.

Happy Saturday!

Today I needed to go to the grocery store to pick up a few things and decided I would try out a small coupon shopping adventure. I could not be more pleased!! First and foremost, again, it took me awhile to get my stuff together with sales paper, store coupons and manufacturers coupons. Remember, the whole point to this is to use the best combination of coupons you have, along with the sales the individual store may be having. It is so much more difficult than I could have imagined, but well worth the time spent!
I did buy a few things that I usually would not buy, but I got them SOOO cheap that I thought it was worth giving my son a little treat of pizza rolls and toaster strudel! I never, ever buy this kind of stuff. We are a very plain jane, mom cooks every night, eat cereal or fruit for breakfast family. But when I can get a box of pizza rolls for 24¢, that is hard to pass up! They are usually around $2.19+ for one box. They were on sale for 99 cents and I have a 75¢ coupon. I bought 2 boxes for 48¢! You gotta agree, thats a deal!
Also, I'm taking the advice of some of the other sites I've been reading and stocking up on things we have to buy anyway like detergent and toothpaste. These things don't go bad, so by stocking up while these things are super cheap, we don't risk of running out just to get a tube of toothpaste for $4! I'm sure most of you are like me - I rarely run to the store to get one thing and come out with ONE thing. My $4 tube of toothpaste will, without fail, turn into $40 worth of nothing. The fewer times I have to run to the store to pick up one thing will inevitably cut down on the amount of money spent.
I saved a grand total of 77% today! I consider that a huge home run on my first grocery store adventure. Just think what I can save once I get really good at this. I was so happy when I walked out of that store. If you take that money I saved today and multiply it by the gazillion times I go back and forth to the grocery store, well, the savings are going to be astronomical! I am pumped
This only makes me what to continue getting better at this coupon game!
I took some pictures of my completed coupon binder - YES, I did finally get it finished this morning. But, my camera is charging at the moment, so I'll post the pictures later. It really does make everything much easier to see.
Just wanted to share that success and I'm done for today. Time to go check on my veggie soup - yummmy. As my husband said, it smells like a winter day in the house. Very comforting.
Enjoy your Saturday evening!

Ok, so I went on my coupon shopping adventure and I have to tell you, it was MORE than worth the time I put into it! I had stated earlier that I wasn't going to CVS today, but decided to drop by. From what I've read, there will be better savings for next week (flyer out on Sunday), so I'll use my 25% off then! Most of what I got today wasn't anything I needed, but I WILL need. So, I'm stocking up now while there is a good sale at the store AND I have a manufacturers coupon. Several of the items I purchased were completely free - like toothpaste. We go through toothpaste big time in this house and it isn't cheap. Needless to say, I don't have to buy it for awhile
The whole point of shopping like this IS to stock up on items you use. I'm not going to buy things that I don't use unless I get them for free. At that point I'll decide if I want to try it out, or donate it. Either way, its worth getting it if its free!
Here's how my savings panned out today:
Savings at Walgreens:
| Total Value of Items Purchased | $45.86 |
| Total Cash Back or Register Rewards | $ 3.00 |
| Total I paid | $25.26 |
| SAVINGS | $20.60 |
Savings at CVS:
| Total Value of Items Purchased | $43.49 |
| Total Cash Back or Extra Bucks | $ 4.99 |
| Total I paid | $22.08 |
| SAVINGS | $16.42 |
I think I did pretty good for my first try! Just think how much I'll save in a grocery store. I plan to try that out next week. If you get a chance, let me know how you think I did - it would be much appreciated! Have a great rest of the day
